Chapter 9

1 Am I not free? Am I not an apostle? Have I not seen Jesus our Lord? Are you not the result of my work in the Lord? – one of the requirements of an apostle; to be an eyewitness of the Resurrection of Christ (Acts 9:15; 22:21; 26:16-18; Gal 1:12, 15-16).

3 This is my defense to those who sit in judgment on me – The words defense (apologia) and judgment (anakrino) are both legal words, taken from the Roman law court.
